물류효율성이 무역에 미치는 영향분석 : 동아시아 지역을 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 물류효율성이 무역에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위함이다. 최근 들어 세계화(globalism)와 자유화(liberalization)의 진전으로 관세, 비관세와 같은 전통적인 무역장벽은 계속해서 감소하고 있기 때문에 수송비용 즉, 무역을 하는데서 발생하는 물류비용이 새로운 무역장벽으로 부각되고 있다. 특히 세계경제의 생산네트워크(production networks)가 가속화되면서 재화의 수출입에 따른 물류비용과 물류효율성에 대한 관심이 더욱 증대되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 물류비용을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요인이 물류효율성임을 밝힌 다음, 이 물류효율성이 실제로 양국간 무역의 흐름에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지를 분석하였다. 추정결과에 의하면 다른 변수들이 일정할 때, 자국의 물류효율성이 10%증가할 경우 쌍무 무역량은 약 3.8%증가하며, 무역상대국의 물류효율성이 10%증가할 경우 쌍무 무역량은 약 4.3%증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 분석결과는 역내 교역의 활성화를 위해서는 자국의 물류효율성을 증가시키는 것도 중요하지만 무역상대국의 효율성도 함께 증가시켜야 함을 말해 주고 있다. 즉, 물류공조체제의 구축은 양국간의 접근성과 상호접속성을 높여 역내교역의 증가를 가져올 것임을 말해준다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 현재 우리가 추진하고 있는 성공적인 물류허브 추진을 위해서는 주변국간 물류공조체제를 위한 구체적인 방안이 필요하다고 하겠다.

Abstract

The paper analyzes how infrastructure efficiency affects trade flows in East Asian countries. Using gravity model, we examine the impact of infrastructure efficiency on trade flows in East Asian countries. How is an infrastructure efficiency related to trade flows between countries? The purpose of this paper is to extend some recent works to study the link between infrastructure efficiency and trade flows between countries. In so doing, this paper provide a framework for the empirical study of how infrastructure efficiency affect trade flows in East Asian countries. This paper finds that infrastructure efficiency directly affects trade flows between countries. That is, it shows that infrastructure efficiency is quantitatively important in trade flows, and improvements in infrastructure efficiency can dramatically increase trade flows.
