초록
This article intends to explore a future for education, reflecting on past examples and addressing current issues, amid concerns about the collapse of education today. To this end, I will examine the case of D. H. Lawrence, who began his career as a teacher before becoming a writer and artist. His unconventional and innovative teaching methods offer us a chance to revalue what we might be missing today. Furthermore, through the depictions of classrooms he envisioned in his literary and non-literary works after retiring from teaching, we are directly and indirectly presented with the true meaning of education he pursued and the methods for achieving it. This paper provides an analysis of Lawrence's personal experiences as both a recipient and provider of education, as well as the unique philosophy of education he expressed in his writings, including an essay ("Education of the People"), and two poems ("The Best of School," "I am Like a Rose"). This will allow us to understand the essence of education he envisioned a century ago and imagine together a new educational paradigm for the next generation.
