Abstract
As the business environment has become increasingly uncertain and the pressure to cope with complex environments is increasing recently (Tushman and O'Reilly, 1997; Christensen, 1998), creativity is nominated as a key competency for environmental response. This study examines the effects of negative behavioral characteristics of leaders on the creativity of followers, which has become particularly important in the recent business environment. Based on these study problems, this study categorizes followers' creativity into concepts of radical creativity and incremental creativity, and as a hindrance to this creativity, sets the effect of the independent variable of the abusive supervisory behavior of leaders as a key research model and hypothesis. In particular, it was predicted that the level of commitment to team and pro-social motivation perceived by followers will have a systematic mediating effect on the relationship between the abusive supervisory behavior of leaders and the creativity of followers. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted on followers working for domestic large companies and public companies, and hypotheses were verified through structural equation analysis based on the response results of 396 people. As a result of empirical analysis, it was confirmed that the abusive supervisory behavior of leaders negatively affects the radical creativity and incremental creativity of followers with the level of commitment to team of followers as mediate variable. Practical implications of these study results and future study suggestions were presented in the conclusion section.
