Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the aspects of paragraph found in manual writing and word processor writing to identify issues in crating paragraphs using the word processor. A paragraph, for the writer, is the unit of effectively organizing and expressing writing, and the thought unit for readers to identify the structure and understand the meaning of the writing. Therefore, accurate paragraph writing is very important for both writing and reading. However, as a result of examining the paragraph writing aspects using word processors in middle and high school students, it was found that writing with word processor harbored issues in overuse of one sentence paragraphs, lack of paragraph markings, and line spacing. Writing with word processor is not just ordinary writing using a different medium, but is a form of writing that shows aspects different from ordinary writing from the planning to the correction process. Therefore, there is a need for study on writing strategies for the contents and form of word processor writing, as well as for overcoming issues of word processor writing .
