비행청소년과 일반청소년의 담화에 나타난 명사의 의미범주 분포

The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution of semantic categories of nouns used in discourses of two youth groups from different environment. Considering that adolescents develop their identity and perspective of value in a relationship with their peers reciprocally influencing one to the others, writing with a topic ‘friend’ was carried out for 43 delinquent youths imprisoned in a correction center and 30 general teenagers. By using CoreNet, we analyzed the data of 30 participants for each group whose sentence competence belongs to normal category. The result shows no significant differences in two groups for discourse length, lexical diversity, sentence complexity, the number of nouns, and the number of different nouns. For semantic category, the delinquent youth group used more [occupation] and [lawyer] in [HUMAN], [juridical facilities] and [service facilities] in [PLACE], [specific time] in [TIME], [escape/separation/visit] in [ACTION], [self-emotion] in [EMOTION] comparing with the general youth group. In contrast, the delinquent youth group used none of [animal], [plant], and [nature phenomena], and much less [feature], [temperament], [real phenomena], [instrument] than the general youth group. These findings implicate that nouns’ semantic categories can reflect characteristics of groups, and can develop linguistic tools of processing of document classification of teenagers or their affective assessment.
