Abstract
The purpose of this study is to emphasize the necessity of strengthening social inclusion for life satisfaction. Analyzing the impact of social trust on life satisfaction, the purpose of this study is to empirically verify the moderating and the moderated mediating effect of subjective social status when social inclusion(social exclusion and cultural diversity) mediates in the relationship between social trust and life satisfaction. The data used for the study was the '2019 Social Integration Survey' data of 8,000 residents aged 19 to 69 years old in 17 cities and provinces across South Korea. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 and the PROCESS Macro suggested by Hayes. As a result, first, hypotheses(H1, H2, H3) that social trust positively affects life satisfaction or social inclusion were all supported. Second, the hypothesis(H4, H5) that social inclusion will have a positive effect on life satisfaction was also supported. Third, the hypothesis(H6, H7) that social trust will have an indirect effect on life satisfaction through social inclusion was also supported. Fourth, the hypothesis(H9) was supported that subjective social status would have a significant moderating effect between social trust and life satisfaction. Fifth, both hypotheses(H8, H10) that subjective social status would have a significant moderated mediating effect between social inclusion and life satisfaction were rejected. By paying attention to the usefulness of social inclusion through the research results of this study, it will be helpful in providing policy directions and implications for improving life satisfaction.
