일본어 학습자의 학습동기 및 일본·일본인·일본어에 대한 인식조사 -한국 대학생을 대상으로-

Abstract

The study attempts to investigate Japanese learners' perception of Japan, Japanese people and Japanese language, providing a comparative study between Japanese majors and non-Japanese majors who takes general Japanese courses. The research found that the largest number of the surveyed students learn Japanese for intrinsic motivation in the perspective of learning motivation. It was also revealed that the ultimate learning goal of the most number of Japanese majors is to achieve a level of native fluency. On the other hand, the most number of the non-Japanese majors responded that they learn Japanese to travel more easily in Japan. These results suggest the need of developing methods for learning and teaching according to Japanese learners' learning goal. As for the perception of Japan, both the Japanese majors and non-Japanese majors highly appreciate the country in relation to its economic prosperity and internationalization. However, many of them disagreed that Japan is a leader of Asia for the upcoming years or a role model for South Korea. As for the survey on Japanese people, there were positive views among students that Japanese people had a high sense of public order and strong social cohesiveness. However, there were also strong opinions that Japanese people seem two-faced. The survey also showed both Japanese majors and non-Japanese majors have high interest in making Japanese friends, suggesting their high affinity for Japanese people. Finally, in the aspect of Japanese learning, although there were many responses showing interest in Japanese and desire for further pursuit of Japanese learning, the survey suggests that it is inevitable to consider the growing importance of English or Chinese language.
