Abstract

This study investigates the impact of social integration on life satisfaction and examines how perceptions of fairness moderate this relationship. The primary aim is to derive policy implications for enhancing citizens’ life satisfaction by identifying and designing key components of social integration. The results indicate that all four sub-dimensions of social integration—social conflict, sense of belonging, social mobility, and trust—have significant effects on life satisfaction. Specifically, social conflict negatively affects life satisfaction, while a stronger sense of belonging is positively associated with higher life satisfaction. Similarly, greater social mobility and higher levels of trust contribute positively to life satisfaction. The moderating effects of fairness reveal that in groups with higher perceptions of fairness, the positive impact of a sense of belonging on life satisfaction is weakened. Likewise, the beneficial influence of social mobility on life satisfaction diminishes as perceived fairness increases. Based on these findings, the study offers theoretical and policy implications, including the need for effective conflict management mechanisms and the applicability of social capital theory in promoting social integration.
