위키 기반 온라인 협동학습에서 학습과제 유형에 따른 학습자 참여도와 의사소통 과정 차이 연구

본 연구는 위키 기반 온라인 협동학습 환경에서 학습과제 유형에 따라 학습자들의 참여도와 의사소통 과정에 차이가 있는지 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 누구나 자유롭게 글을 편집할 수 있는 위키 게시판과 실시간 상호작용을 할 수 있는 대화 게시판으로 구성된 위키 기반 온라인 협동학습 환경을 구현한 후 세 가지 학습과제 유형별 학습자 반응을 살펴보았다. 실험대상은 초등학교 6학년 88명 학생들로, 이들을 세 집단으로 나눈 후 각 집단에 지식학습형, 문제해결형, 토론학습형 등과 같이 서로 다른 유형의 학습과제를 제시하였다. 연구 결과, 위키 게시판에서는 지식학습형, 대화 게시판에서는 토론학습형을 적용한 집단에서 학습자들의 참여도가 가장 높았다. 학습자의 의사소통 과정을 살피기 위해 대화 게시판에서 학습자들 간에 교류한 메시지 내용을 분석한 결과, 서로간의 의견을 조율하는 ‘조정’ 메시지가 가장 많았고 본격적인 상호작용 이전에 자신을 소개하며 서로를 알아가는 ‘도입’ 메시지와 최종 의견 합의와 관련된 ‘적용’ 메시지 수는 상대적으로 적었다.

Abstract

Recently, new web technologies such as Wiki, RSS, Folksonomy are paid attention in educational areas. The Web 2.0 sublates the one way communication process between contents providers and clients, but it pursuits bidirectional communication process among them. Wiki, the most popular Web 2.0 technology, are continuously used in different fields, as time goes by, lots of researchers are trying to apply it into teaching and learning. The purpose of this study is to explore the learner's participation and communication process by the types of learning task in wiki-based online cooperative learning system. To test wiki's function, three types of learning tasks, Knowledge Learning Task, Problem Solving Task, Debate Learning Task, were put into three groups, respectively about 30 primary 6th grade students. The data was collected from the history of the number of editing on the wiki board and the number of messages posting on the dialogue board, and the students' messages exchanged among learners' communication on the dialogue board. To recognize the difference of the communication process, the contents analysis of message has been performed by using the meaning unit analysis technique. Students's participation rate of wiki bulletin board was the highest at the Knowledge Learning Task, whereas the average number of posting on the dialogue board was the highest at Debate Learning Task. To investigate how the communication process (Introduction Messages, Mediation Messages, Application Messages) occurs by the types of learning tasks in wiki-based online cooperative learning system, content analysis was performed. Introduction and Application Messages were extremely rare, but Mediation Messages were very numerous.
