온라인 토론에서 학습자의 토론 메시지와 상호작용에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 온라인에서 이루어지는 찬반 형태의 토론과 토의 형태의 토론에 따라 학습자들이 게시하는 토론 메시지 유형이 어떻게 다른지를 분석하였다. 또한, 학습자들이 주고받는 토론 메시지의 상호작용 양상이 어떻게 다른지를 분석하고, 토론 메시지 설계 및 교수자 개입 전략에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 A 사이버대학의 교육학부 선택과목을 대상으로 하였으며, 10명 내외의 소규모 집단을 대상으로 네 번에 걸쳐 진행된 토론 중 두 개의 토론 글에 대한 메시지 분석 및 상호작용 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 찬반 토론에서는 인지적 메시지 유형과 상호작용적 논평의 메시지 유형이 거의 비슷한 수준으로 가장 많이 나온데 반해, 토의 형태의 토론에서는 인지적 메시지 유형이 다른 메시지 유형들에 비해 월등하게 우위를 차지한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 찬반 형태의 토론이 토의 형태의 토론에 비해 답 글이 3개 이상인 게시 글과 답 글에 답 글을 다는 형태의 토론 글이 더 많이 생성되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 토론의 유형에 따른 효과적인 교수자 개입 전략에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate what kinds of message type and patterns are produced according to two different types of online discussions. The research site was a undergraduate course of A cyber university. The course provided students with two online discussions-debate and free discussion-as four small group ones consisting of around 10 students. The research findings are as follows. First, the portion of message types were different according to online discussion types. In the debate, portion of cognitive messages and interactive messages were similar. In the free discussion, however, the portion of cognitive messages was more than 50% of the whole ones. Second, the type of debate produced both messages having more than three replies and messages having two-depth threaded level more than that of free discussion. Based on these research findings, this study suggest two instructors' invention strategies.
