본 연구는, ChatGPT 기반 피드백을 활용한 영문입사지원서 비교과 프로그램의 효과와 학습자 만족도를 조사함으로써, 인공지능을 활용한 효과적인 영문입사지원서 비교과 수업 모델을 제시하고, 학생들의 글로벌 의사소통역량을 향상시키는 데 도움을 주고자 하였다. 본 프로그램에서, 학생들은 영문입사지원서 작성 방법에 대한 강의를 듣고, 강의 내용에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 학생들 스스로 본인의 영문입사지원서를 작성한 후, ChatGPT의 피드백을 받아 수정하여 완성하였다. 사전-사후 영문입사지원서 작성과 사후 설문에 참여한 학생 35명의 자료가 분석되었다. 본 프로그램은 학생들의 영문입사지원서 작성 능력에 유의하게 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 (1)경력의 구체적 서술, (2)경력의 수치화, (3)본인의 경력과 조직의 필요를 연결하여 본인이 적임자임을 설득하는 세 가지 항목에서 더욱 유의한 향상을 나타내었다. 또한, 학생들은 본 프로그램이 영문입사지원서 작성 능력과 자신감 향상에 도움이 되었다는 높은 만족도를 나타내었고, 이러한 결과는 본 비교과 프로그램이 효과적인 영문입사지원서 수업을 위한 하나의 바람직한 모델이 될 수 있음을 제안한다.
Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of an extracurricular program for English cover letter writing in which ChatGPT feedback was used to propose instructional models aimed at improving students’ global communication competence. In the program, students first attended a lecture on English cover letter writing, then drafted their own cover letters based on the lecture, and finally revised them after receiving ChatGPT’s feedback. Data from 35 students who submitted pre- and post-cover letters and completed a post-survey were analyzed. The results indicated that the program had a significant positive effect on students’ English cover letter writing proficiency, particularly in three areas: (1) describing work experiences in detail, (2) quantifying achievements, and (3) persuading employers of their suitability by connecting their experiences to employers’ needs. Furthermore, the students reported a high level of satisfaction, noting that the program was helpful in improving their English cover letter writing skills and their confidence. These results suggest that the extracurricular program could serve as an effective instructional model for English cover letter programs.
