초록
This paper presents a separate analysis on two types of Korean anaphor cakicontaining local vs. non-local antecedents. Previous studies attempt to explainthis peculiar property of caki by providing a unified licensing condition forboth types of caki. Based on the observation on the 1st/2nd person restriction(PR) on caki, however, this paper argues that the local caki must be separatedfrom the long-distance (LD) caki. Since the PR of the local caki can beobviated in certain environments unlike the LD caki, if we suppose that thereis only one type of caki binding, it is hard to account for such a contrast. Toexplain this, this paper proposes that LD caki is a logohpor which is designedto refer to the participants of an attitude context. Various properties of the LDcaki can be explained by the nature of a logophor including the Blockingeffect, the subject orientedness condition, the PR, the 2nd person caki readingand so on. As for the local caki, this paper proposes that it is just a localreflexive. It is argued that if caki is bound in (so called) a proper bindingdomain, it exhibits the same behavioral properties of local reflexives. Giventhis, this paper suggest that the PR and its obviation in local caki are allattributed to the nature of the phi feature match between a bound variable andits antecedent in a local binding relation.
