이 연구의 목적은 한국군 장병의 다문화 역량 척도개발을 하는 데 있다. 연구 방법은 선행연구 검토 및 전문가 검토, 예비조사 및 본조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개발된 척도는 한국군 장병들의 다문화 역량을 측정하기에타당한 척도임이 증명되었다. 이 척도는 타당성과 신뢰성을 확보한 도구임이 증명되었다. 둘째, 다문화 역량이 다문화 인식, 지식, 기술 등 3개의 구성요소로 구성된다는 것이 타당함을 확인하였다. 셋째, 다문화 역량 척도의 설문 문항은 다문화기술(14문항), 다문화 인식(5문항), 다문화 지식(5문항) 등의 총 3개 하위요인과24개 문항으로 확정하였다. 넷째, 한국군 장병의 다문화 역량 정도는 다문화 인식, 다문화 태도, 다문화 지식 순이었다. 다문화 인식에서는 나이가 적고 계급이낮을수록 다문화 차이를 인식하고 존중하는 태도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반대로 나이가 많고 계급이 높을수록 다소 보수적인 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 태도에서는 나이가 적고 계급이 낮을수록 고정관념이나 편견이 낮은 개방적인 태도를보인 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 지식에서는 전반적으로 비슷한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 다문화 역량 척도개발 연구가 미흡한 군사 분야에서 연구가 이루어졌다는 점에서 차별성과 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a multicultural competency scale for Korean soldiers. For the research method, prior research review, expert review, preliminary investigation, and main investigation were conducted. The findings are as follows. First, the developed scale proved to be a valid measure to measure the multicultural capabilities of Korean soldiers. This measure proved to be a tool that secured validity and reliability. Second, it was confirmed that it is reasonable that multicultural competency consists of three components: multicultural awareness, knowledge, and technology. Third, the questionnaire items of the multicultural competency scale were confirmed as a total of three sub-factors and 29 questions: multicultural technology (16 questions), multicultural awareness (8 questions), and multicultural knowledge (5 questions). Fourth, the degree of multicultural competence of Korean military soldiers was shown in the order of multicultural awareness, multicultural attitude, and multicultural knowledge. In multicultural perception, the younger the age and the lower the class, the higher the attitude of recognizing and respecting multicultural differences. On the contrary, it was found that the older and higher the class, the more conservative they were. In the multicultural attitude, it was found that the younger the age and the lower the class, the lower the stereotype or prejudice. In multicultural knowledge, it was found to be generally similar. This study has differentiation and significance in that research has been conducted in the military field where research on the development of multicultural competency scales is insufficient.
