본 연구는 유아교사의 세계시민교육에 대한 은유 분석을 통하여 인식과 신념을 탐색하고 그 의미를 살펴보는 것에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 유아교육기관에서 근무 중인 총196명의 유아교사를 대상으로 은유 표현과 이유 진술문을 작성할 수 있는 반구조화된 문장 완성형 설문지를 배부, 회수하였다. 수집된 자료를 토대로 세계시민교육에 대한 개념을 범주화하고, 범주 내의 빈도와 백분율을 산출하였다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면, 세계시민교육에 대한 유아교사의 은유는 유아교사로서세계시민교육을 가르칠 수 있는 세계시민교육역량과 세계시민교육이 가지는 특성에 대한 인식으로 총 2개의 주제로 구분되었다. 그리고 은유 표현의 의미 주제를 바탕으로 총 7개의 범주와 17개의 개념을 최종적으로 도출하였다. ‘세계시민교육 역량에 대한 인식’에는 ‘교육목표’, ‘교육내용’, ‘교수방법’, ‘교육 실천의지’, ‘협력’으로 범주화되었다. ‘세계시민교육에 대한 인식’은 ‘맥락적 특성’ 과 ‘개념적 특성’으로 범주화 되었다. 본 연구는 세계시민교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식 및 신념체계를 분석하여 유아교육기관에서 실천하는 세계시민교육의 지평을 넓히는데 도움을 줄 뿐만 아니라 세계시민교육을 위한 교사교육을 위한 이론적, 실천적 시사점을 제시하는데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study sought to investigate early childhood teachers’ perception of global citizenship education through metaphor analysis. For this purpose, 196 early childhood teachers participated in a semi-structured sentence completion questionnaire. Based on the collected metaphors and statements, the concepts related to global citizenship education were categorized and analyzed. The results revealed 2 categories of perception: teachers’ global citizenship education competencies and characteristics of global citizenship education. Based on the metaphorical meanings, a total of 7 categories and 17 concepts were identified. Specifically, teachers’ perceptions of global citizenship education competencies were categorized as educational goals, educational content, teaching methods, willingness to implement, and collaboration. Teachers’ perceptions of global citizenship education were categorized into contextual characteristics and conceptual characteristics. This study provides insights into early childhood teachers’ understanding and interpretation of global citizenship education, offering both theoretical and practical implications for designing teacher education programs and enhancing the implementation of global citizenship education in early childhood education settings.
