Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether school violence victimization experienced by students in the real world and cyberspace was classified differently by school level and to verify whether gender, runaway, existence to share concerns, family structure, and family economic status were significant. A multi-group latent profile analysis was conducted on 2,778 students who responded that they had experienced any of the 12 violence-related questions, of the 9,060 elementary, middle, and high school students who participated in the 2018 Children and Youth Human Rights Survey. According to the results, a model that freely estimated the average of indicator variables and the probability of belonging to latent profiles was more suitable than that which constrained the same according to elementary, middle, and high school levels. Specifically, elementary schools were classified into low-level victims, assault victims, intimidation victims, and forced errand victims. Middle and high schools were classified into low-level victims, sexual victims, cyber victims, and multiple victims. Regarding influencing factors, gender was significant at all school levels and family economic status was significant only at middle school level. Moreover, whether to share concerns was found to be significant at elementary and middle school levels, runaway at elementary and high school levels, and family structure was significant only at middle and high school levels. Implications were derived based on the research results and follow-up studies were proposed.
