Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the types of cyberbulling victims among youths using Latent Class Analysis(LCA), and to examine the differences of characteristics and mental health by the cyberbulling victim types. The subjects of the study were 802 middle and high school students in Gyeonggi-do province. The results of the study were as follows. First, the types of cyberbulling victims among youths were classified into four latent groups; 'low victims group (67.96%)' accounted for more than half, 'frustrated victims group (12.97%)’ showed high rates in most cyberbulling experience and in help seeking behavior either. 'isolated lone victims group (8.23%)’ reported significantly higher rates of alienation and bullying from peers, and ‘cyber reputation damage victims group (10.85%)’ reported being damaged reputation and exacerbated relationships with others by rumors from cyberbulling. Second, the differences in the types of cyberbulling victims were verified in the offline bullying experiences. Third, in terms of depression and suicidal risk, the differences between cyberbullying types were identified. ‘frustrated victims group’ showed the highest depression and suicidal risk, which needed to urgent intervention as the high-risk group. It implies the need for individualized intervention models according to the types of cyberbullying victims.
