이 글은 유의관계, 반의관계, 상하의관계, 부분·전체관계가 우리 머릿속에 생득적으로 내재된 어휘 구조가 아니라 단어의 사용 패턴에 의해 경험적으로 구성된 것이며, 특정한 구문 환경에서 공기하는빈도에 따라 우리 머릿속에서 저장되는 양상이 달라질 수 있음을 밝히는 것이 목적이다. 이들 관계는 계열적 어휘 의미관계의 종류로 알려져 왔지만 사실은 결합적 어휘 의미관계로도 실현된다. 그래서 이 글에서는 저장부의 의미관계와 운용부의 의미관계로 나누고, 유의관계등을 저장부의 의미관계의 종류로 간주하였다. 이들 의미관계가 운용부에서 실현될 때 특정한 구문 환경에서 나타나는 경우가 많다. 그리고 전형적으로 어떤 의미관계에 있다고 기억하지 못한 두 단어가 특정한 구문 환경에서 모종의 의미관계로 해석되기도 한다. 이는 공기 현상으로 대표되는 단어의 사용 패턴이 저장부의 의미관계를 경험적으로구성할 수 있다는 사실을 반영한다. 특히 두 단어가 공기하는 특정한구문 패턴은 두 단어 사이의 의미관계 정체를 해석하는 데 결정적인역할을 한다. ‘같다’와 ‘다르다’의 관계처럼 이미 머릿속에 저장되어 있는 의미관계는 규범적인 의미관계이다. 그런데 이런 규범적인 의미관계는 고정적이지 않고 유동적이다. ‘같다’와 ‘틀리다’처럼 둘이 특정한구문에서 자주 공기하게 되면 규범적인 의미관계의 지위를 획득할 수도 있다. 이에 비해 특정한 구문 환경에 나타날 수 있다고 해도 두 단어가 공기하는 횟수가 아주 적어서 일시적이라면 두 단어 사이의 관계는 저장부로서 우리 머릿속에 저장되기가 어렵다. 이런 관계는 화용론적 의미관계라고 부를 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper aims to explain that lexical semantic relations are constructed with the co-occurrence pattern of words in the particular construction. Synonymy,antonymy, hyponymy, and meronymy known as the paradigmatic relation are the lexical semantic relation in the lexicon, which are expressed as a kind of syntagmatic relation. Words involved in these relations are frequently cooccurred within particular constructions. Frequent co-occurrence with two words is the evidence that they have a certain lexical semantic relation. Lexical semantic relation between two words is interpreted with the meaning of constructions where they appear. All of cooccurrent words within the particular constructions are not stored in the lexicon. Only if two words cooccurs within the particular constructions, they can be stored in the lexicon with a certain lexical semantic relation. This relation is called as the cannonical semantic relation. If other words frequently cooccurs within this construction, lexical system of the lexicon is affected. Even though several words cooccur within the particular construction for a time, they cannot be stored in the lexicon. We can call this relation as pragmatic semantic relation.
