Teaching Korean as a Foreing Language, 34, 129~156. The purpose of this paper is to explore an extensive reading approach as a way of teaching reading in Education of Korean as a Foreign Language, and then examine the effects of reading comprehension and vocabulary recognition. To this end, 19 advanced learners at the CKLCE(Center for Korean Language & Culture Education) of Pusan Univ. of Foreign Studies were divided into two groups, and then compared improvement of reading comprehension and vocabulary recognition by either an intensive reading or extensive reading procedure. As a result of the study, extensive reading shows positive effects on reading ability and vocabulary ability. (Pusan University of Foreign Studies)
