이 글은 인물 평전의 기술방식으로 독일행 전후로부터 말년에 이르는 허수경의 문학적 생애에서 ‘모어로 된 글쓰기’와 ‘독일’이라는 시공간을 어떻게 전유했는지를 살펴보고자 했다. 허수경의 독일행은 143년에 이르는 한독교류사의 맥락 안에서 ‘해외 유학’과 ‘프레카리아트’의 자발적 이주라는 외형을 가지고 있다. 하지만 허수경의 문학적 생애에서 독일행은 ‘모국으로부터 가장 먼 공간’으로 향한 낭만적 결행이자 1980~90년대 여성문학에 나타난 ‘출분(出奔)서사’라는 문화사적 맥락도 함축하고 있다. 독일 체류 이후 허수경은 고고학자의 길을 걸었다. 허수경의 문학적 생애는 ‘오래된 시공간을 성찰하는 고고학적 사유’를 바탕 삼아, 시 장르를 넘어 소설과 동화, 번역 등에 이르는 ‘모어로 된 글쓰기’를 감행하며 자신만의 문학적 성과를 거두었다. 이 글은 허수경의 문학적 생애에서 독일행이 갖는 의미와 ‘모어로 된 글쓰기’ 속에 나타나는 ‘독일’이라는 시공간이 갖는 의미를 살펴보았다.
Abstract
This article aims to examine how Huh Sukyung monopolized the ‘writing in her native language’ and the time and space of ‘Germany’ in her literary life from before and after her visit to Germany to her later years in the form of a biographical account. Huh Sukyung's visit to Germany has the external appearance of ‘studying abroad’ and voluntary migration of the ‘precariat’ within the context of the 143-year history of Korea-German exchange. However, in Huh Sukyung's literary life, her visit to Germany is a romantic decision to ‘go to the farthest space from her motherland’ and also contains the cultural-historical context of the ‘narrative of departure’ that appeared in women's literature in the 1980s and 1990s. After her stay in Germany, Huh Sukyung took the path of an archaeologist. Based on ‘archaeological thinking that reflects on old time and space,’ Huh Sukyung's literary life achieved her own literary achievements by going beyond the genre of poetry to ‘writing in her native language’, including novels, fairy tales, and translations. This article examines the meaning of Huh Sukyung's trip to Germany in her literary life and the meaning of the time and space of ‘Germany’ that appears in her ‘writing in her native language.’
