동화 『마당을 나온 암탉』과 애니메이션 <마당을 나온 암탉> 구조 비교분석 -블라디미르 프롭의 『민담형태론』을 중심으로-

본고는 황선미 작가의 동화 『 마당을 나온 암탉』을 프롭의 민담형태론으로 분석하였다. 『마당을 나온 암탉』은 동화와 애니메이션으로 독자를 만났다. 애니메이션도 동화의 원본에서 크게 벗어나지는 않았으나 분석의 틀을 기준으로 구조를 들여다보면 차이가 있다. 주인공과 적대자는 원본에서 변형이 없지만 주인공의 주변인이자 조력자는 적지 않은 차이를 보이고 있다. 플롯에 나타난 인물 배치와 주인공 잎싹이 감수하는 차별과 통제는 낯익은 구조를 보인다. 의인화는 독자의 성장 과정을 배려한 시도이지만 이야기 구조가 낯설지 않고 어딘가 익숙하기까지 한 이유를 살펴보면 블라디미르 프롭의『민담형태론』에 근거하기 때문이다. 『민담형태론』에 근거한 31가지 서사 구조 분석은 애니메이션 『마당을 나온 암탉』이 동화에서와 달리 증여자와 조력자가 각각 뚜렷하게 구분되었다. 그 효과는 대중이 서사의 형식을 극적으로 받아들이는데 있어 몰입을 높일 수 있을 뿐 아니라 서사를 이해하기 쉽도록 돕는 역할을 한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the structure based on Propp's A Hen into the Wild, a fairy tale by Sun-mi Hwang. The Hen Into the Wild has been presented both as fairy tales and animations. While the animation does not deviate significantly from the original fairy tale, there are differences when examining the structure based on the framework of analysis. The protagonist and antagonist remain unchanged from the original, but the supporting characters, who surround and assist the protagonist, show notable differences. The arrangement of characters in a simple plot and the discrimination and control endured by the main character Leaflack are showing familiar structures. The personification is an attempt to consider the reader’s growth process, but the reason why the anthropomorphized story structure feels not only unfamiliar but also somhewhat familiar lies in its reliance on Vladimir Propp’s Morphology of the Folktale. The analysis of 31 narrative structures based on Propp’s theory reveals distinct differentiation between the donor an the helper in the animation A Hen into the Wild unlike in fairy tales. This effect not only enhances audience immersion in acception the narrative’s form but also facilitates easier comprehension of the story.
