초록
This study was carried out as a basic work for a long-term task to explore the historical development of Pan-Mongolianism, which is one of the main themes of Mongolia's modern and contemporary history. Pan-Mongolianism refers to the national unification movement and its ideas that advocate the political and cultural integration of Mongolians. To put it simply, Pan-Mongolianism is the claim and movement to unite the Mongolian peoples living in the present-day Mongolia, the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation into one and establish a unified state. Theoretically, all Mongolians in all regions are the target of integration. However, the national unification movement most often talked about and put into practice in the course of history is the integration of traditional Mongolian settlements from Lake Baikal to the Great Wall. Pan-Mongolianism began to rise as the Mongols escaped from the Qing Dynasty in the early 20th century and functioned as the central axis of the national movement throughout the 20th century. In this respect, Pan-Mongolianism can be said to be one of the key themes to correctly understand Mongolia's modern and contemporary history. Despite the importance of this topic, there are few studies examining the historical trend of Pan-Mongolianism with the last century in perspective. This study is a basic work for a full-scale study of Pan-Mongolianism, which has not yet been fully implemented. The discussion was divided into three main parts. First, I looked at how the term Pan-Mongolianism first came into existence at the end of the 19th century and how it was handed down to future generations through Russian literature. Next, through what process pan-Mongolism in the early 20th century was used to mean Mongolia's national integration movement as it is now, it was also examined through Russian literature of the time. Finally, all studies related to Pan-Mongolianism accumulated from the early 20th century to the present were investigated and evaluated.
