Abstract
It is believed that language is not only a system of signs of communication, but also a reflection of the revolutionary development and scope of human thought, the characteristics of the thinking of a certain cultural-ethnic group, or the worldview and recognition of the world (J. Bayansan). On the other hand, active human activity is the basis for knowing the external world in which there is an institution. Humans recognize the shape, color and characteristics of any object through their five senses. The eyes, mouth, hands, mouth, and ears are the five sense organs, and the actions involving them are the beginning of the cognitive process. When conducting a cognitive study of the word “to hold”, we aimed to classify it according to the “Prototype” theory. Because the abstract meaning of the verb "to hold" is considered to be convenient for grouping and studying transformations along the horizontal axis, so this theory was chosen. AA. The center of the circle, which is the original image, indicates the main meaning of the verb “to hold” - to hold something in the hand. AB. Words with manual action. C. The words that were categorized as abstract thoughts were explained for each one. There are more examples in Mongolian than in Korean where the meaning of the word “to hold” has changed through the process of mental abstraction. According to the theory of original form, the meaning is abstracted into three main parts. In the example of the Mongolian language, there were 29 words in the 2nd (AB) level category and 33 words in the 3rd (C) level category. However, when the examples of the Korean language were classified by this category, only 2 words were included in the 2nd (C) level category, and others were included in the 3rd (C) level category. It turns out that the verb “to hold” is more abstract in Korea. Among the abstractions of the verb “to hold” in the Mongolian language, there were many words that had the meaning of healing and putting together (holding the head, holding the injury, holding the brain...), but it was observed that there were none in the Korean language. Also, there was an example of the same abstraction in both languages, which is the word “taking a taxi”.
