Abstract

As joint curriculum implementation in small-scale middle schools gains policy attention for ensuring students' learning choice rights, this study aimed to provide foundational data for consensus building among educational stakeholders by comparatively analyzing students', teachers', and parents' perceptions and needs. A survey was conducted targeting students, teachers, and parents from 12 middle schools in A region. The results showed that the overall level of basic awareness about joint curriculum was low, with statistically significant differences among educational stakeholders (χ²=45.62, p<.001). Regarding support for implementation, parents showed the highest approval rate (88.7%), followed by students (79.2%) and teachers (67.6%). In terms of expectations and concerns, students expected diverse subject choices and career-related advanced learning while worrying about increased academic burden. Teachers anticipated curriculum diversification but were greatly concerned about workload increases. Parents expected career exploration opportunities while worrying about safety risks during transportation. Regarding operational methods, students and parents preferred visiting teacher classes, while teachers favored online-offline hybrid approaches, showing distinct differences (χ²=89.45, p<.001). For support needs, students prioritized learning device support, teachers emphasized workload reduction measures, and parents considered school bus support most important (χ²=127.83, p<.001). Based on these findings, the study suggested the necessity of developing customized awareness enhancement measures for each stakeholder group, alleviating teachers' workload burden, implementing comprehensive safety measures, developing flexible operational models, and establishing differentiated support systems for each educational stakeholder.
