Abstract

Games have evolved beyond simple entertainment to become an integral part of daily life. In response, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) has implemented various educational programs promoting the effective use of games in education. Among them, the Teacher Game Literacy program for primary and secondary teachers has achieved high satisfaction by enhancing practical competencies in game-based teaching. This study explored improvement directions by structuring the training into three levels—basic, applied, and advanced—and examining its effectiveness across four domains: perception of educational potential, perception by game type, game-related competency, and ability to design game-based lessons. Results showed improvement across all domains, with significant gains in the applied and advanced levels. These findings suggest that teachers with prior game literacy expanded their understanding through higher-level training, confirming the feasibility of differentiated teacher training.
