아베 내각은 2015년 전후 70년 담화를 발표하였다. 이 담화를 준비하기 위해 아베 내각은 16명에 달하는 <21세기 구상 간담회>를 조직하여 이들의 논의 결과를 담화에 반영하였다. 이러한 과정을 거쳐 공표된 이 담화는 전반부에 20세기 전반기 제국 일본이 수행한 전쟁에 대한 평가를 바탕으로, 후반부에서 향후 일본이 취할 대외정책의 방향을 제시하였다. 본 논문은 이 담화가 90년대 이후 일본에서 전개되던 동경재판사관 대 역사수정주의를 둘러싼 논쟁과 관련되어 있다고 보고, 전체적으로 일본 역사학계에서 진행되던연구 결과들이 어떻게 담화에 투영되었는가를 분석하였다. 그 결과 역사수정주의의 입장이 담화에서는 배제되고, 대체적으로 동경재판사관에 공명하던 관점이 반영되었다는 견지에서 분석을 진행하였다.
Abstract
The Abe Statement, which was released in August 2015, can be an important document to illustrate what position the Abe cabinet takes on historical issues concerning imperial Japan’s wars and what foreign policies will Japan pursue toward international society based on a historical perception. This study examined this document as an alternative or traditionalist interpretation against the so-called revisionist perspective on modern Japanese history. This document fails to clarify Imperial Japan’s responsibility for the colonization of the Korean peninsula in the early 20th century. On the other hand, it shows that the Abe administration differentiates itself from the revisionist perspective and accepts so-called the Tokyo-Tribunal’s perspective by expressing Japan’s responsibility for its Imperial Wars and the severe damage it inflicted on the people in the Asia area.
