중·고교생이 지각한 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 우울의 인과적관계

Causal Relationships among Perceived Depression, Self-Esteem, and Social Support of Adolescents

초록

본 연구는 376명의 중·고교생을 대상으로 청소년기 우울의 보호요인으로서 개인적 차원의 자아존중감 요인과 사회환경적 차원의 사회적 지지요인의 전반적 양상을 조사하고, 청소년이 지각하는 우울과 자아존중감, 사회적 지지의 인과적 관계를 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검증하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 본 연구에 참여한 중·고교생들은 평균적으로 약하게 우울을 지각하고 있으며, ‘보통’ 이상의 사회적 지지를 지각하고 스스로를 긍정적으로 인식하는 경향이 약간 높은 것으로 나타났다. 성별에 따라 사회적 지지에 대해서만 남학생에 비해 여학생이 보다 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났으며, 우울이나 자아존중감은 학교급이나 성에 따른 차이가 유의미하지 않았고, 상호작용 효과도 나타나지 않았다. 그리고 선행연구들의 결과에 기초하여 설정한 가설적 구조모형의 검증 결과, 청소년이 지각하는 사회적 지지가 자아존중감에 정적, 직접적 영향을 미치고 자아존중감은 우울에 부적 직접적 영향력을 가지며, 사회적 지지는 우울에 대해 부적 간접적 영향력을 가지는 것으로 최종 인과모형을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년의 우울을 감소시키거나 예방하기 위한 학교복지 차원의 정책적, 실천적 시사점을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test causal relations among perceived social support(socio-environmental factor) and self-esteem(individual factor), influencing depression of adolescents. The data contains 376 middle- & high- school students. The results through two-way ANOVA indicate that no differences were showed in social support, self-esteem, and depression between middle- & high-school, and that social support showed statistically significant difference according to sex. The Covariance Structural Modeling based on literature review also indicate that perceived social support has direct, positive influence on adolescents' self-esteem, that self-esteem has direct negative influence on their depression, and that perceived social support has indirect negative influence on their depression. These results imply that perceived social support and self-esteem influence adolescents' depression, and that self- esteem might be an intervening variable of social support and depression.
