본 연구는 우리나라 다차원적 젠더 이데올로기 유형과 각 유형의 비율, 그리고 시간의 흐름에 따른 유형 분포의 차이를 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 세계가치관조사(WVS)의 4차년도(2001년), 6차년도(2010년), 7차년도(2018년) 자료에 수집된 남성부양자 이데올로기, 성역할 본질주의, 모성이데올로기 측정 문항을 이용하여 잠재프로파일분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2000년 이후 한국의 젠더 이데올로기는 크게 1) 본질주의적 평등주의, 2) 중도 평등주의, 3) 전통주의로 구성되어 있다. 둘째, 본질주의적 평등주의가 전체 젠더 이데올로기 잠재프로파일에서 차지하는 비중은 2001년에 가장 높았다가 이후 점차 낮아졌으며 중도 평등주의는 2010년에 차지하는 비중이 높았으나 2018년에 낮아졌다. 셋째, 가장 높은 수준의 남성부양자 이데올로 기와 높은 수준의 성역할 본질주의 및 모성 이데올로기의 특징을 보이는 전통주의가 젠더 이데올로기 잠재프로파일에서 차지하는 비중은 2010년에 약간 낮아지는 모습을 보였으나 2018년에 과반 이상을 차지하였다. 넷째, 모든 조사차수에 걸쳐 일관적으로 젠더 이데올로기의 잠재프로파일 분류에 유의한 영향력을 미친 인구사회학적 특성은 연령이었다. 연구결과에 기초하여 추후 연구방향을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study examines the types of multidimensional gender ideologies in South Korea, the proportion of each type, and differences in their distribution over time. To do so, we conducted a latent profile analysis using the male provider ideology, gender essentialism, and mother ideology measures collected in the 4th (2001), 6th (2010), and 7th (2018) waves of the World Values Survey (WVS). The main findings are as follows. First, gender ideology in South Korea since 2000 consists of three main types: 1) essentialist egalitarianism, 2) moderate egalitarianism, and 3) traditionalism. Second, the share of essentialist egalitarianism in the overall gender ideology latent profile was highest in 2001 and has gradually declined since then, while the share of moderate egalitarianism was high in 2010 but has declined in 2018. Third, traditionalism, which is characterized by the highest levels of male provider ideology and high levels of gender role essentialism and motherhood ideology, accounted for a slightly lower share of the gender ideology latent profile in 2010, but more than a majority in 2018. Fourth, the demographic characteristic that consistently had a significant impact on the classification of gender ideology latent profiles across all waves of the survey was age. Based on our findings, we suggest future research directions.
