이 논문은 일차적으로 학교에서 학생들의 도덕성을 함양하는 데 헌신하는 도덕 교육자들이 참고할 만한 도덕 교육적 담론을 제공하는 데 의의가 있다. 이에 이 논문에서는 우선 이 물음이 교육학적 차원에서 어떤 의미가 있는지를 검토하고, 그동안 도덕 철학 분야에서 이 물음과 관련하여 제시되었던 답변들을 비판적으로 검토한 후, 학생들의 도덕성 함양에 관심을 가진 교사들이 도덕교육의 실제적 수준에서 제시할 수 있는 답변을 모색하고자 하였다. 여기에서는 도덕성을 인간의 본성에서 비롯하는 이타심과 이기심이 주어진 상황에서 조화를 이루는 최적의 지점을 추구하고, 열망하며, 그에 따라 행동하고자 하는 심리적 성향이나 능력으로 정의하였다. 그리고 실제적인 도덕 교육적 차원에서 고려할 수 있는 답변으로 도덕성의 세 요소, 곧 이성, 정서, 행동의 면을 각각 포괄하는 세 가지 대답을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This thesis is significant in providing a moral education discourse that can be referenced by moral educators who are primarily committed to cultivating students' morality in schools. Therefore, in this thesis, first of all, we review what this question has in terms of pedagogical significance, and then divide the answers that have been suggested in relation to this question in the field of moral philosophy into two types and discuss them critically. It was attempted to find answers that interested teachers could present at the practical level of moral education. This question leads us to reflect on the essence of morality along with the ultimate question of how we should live. Here, morality is defined as a psychological disposition to know, aspire to, and act according to the optimal point where altruism and selfishness originating from human nature are in harmony in a given situation. And as an intrinsic answer that can be considered in the practical moral education dimension, three answers were presented that encompass the three elements of morality, namely, reason, emotion, and behavior.
