연구 목적: 이 연구는 교사교육과정에 관한 연구다. 특히 교사교육과정을 뜻하는 ‘teacher curriculum’이란 용어의 적합성 문제를 다룬다. 이 연구를 위해 설정한 문제는 두 가지다. 첫째, 교사교육과정의 특성은 무엇인가, 둘째, 교사교육과정의 번역어인 ‘teacher curriculum’을 대체할 수 있는 용어는 무엇인가. 연구 방법: 질적 연구의 방법인 결정화(crystallization), 어원적 접근을 사용하였다. 연구 내용: 교사교육과정과 관련한 연구들이 제시한 교사교육과정에 대한 정의들을 분석함으로써 그 특성을 탐색하였다. 그 결과로 개발 주체, 운영 주체, 개발 유형, 개발 이유와 목적, 개발 범위, 교육과정 적용, 핵심어 등 7가지 측면에서 교사교육과정의 특성을 제시하였다. 결론 및 제언: 교육과정(curriculum)과 학교(school)의 어원인 currere와 schola에 대한 비판적 이해를 통해 curriculum이란 용어가 가진 한계를 밝히고, 교사교육과정의 특성을 감안하여 teacher curriculum의 대체 용어를 alculum, cambiculum, spreitculum 또는 superculum, magiculum 등 네 가지로 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study discusses the appropriateness of the term ‘teacher curriculum’. In this study, two research questions are posed. First, what are the characteristics of the teacher curriculum? Second, what term can replace ‘teacher curriculum’? Two approaches were used to answer these questions: crystallization and an etymological approach. According to the results of the analysis, the characteristics of the teacher curriculum were divided into seven categories: development subject, operation subject, development type, development reason and purpose, development scope, application of curriculum, and key words. Subsequently, by critically examining the etymology of curriculum and school, including currere and schola, the limitations of the term curriculum were revealed. Then, based on the characteristics of the teacher curriculum, four alternative terms were proposed, namely, alculum, cambiculum, spreitculum or superculum magiculum.
