The purpose of this study is to investigate and identify factors of perceptions and attitudes of Korean college students toward multiculturalism and provide directions for future research. Total 38 studies were analyzed, selected from 30 academic journals, published from 2003 to the present in Korea. Results from this study show that main research themes include exploring indicating factors of perceptions of attitudes toward multiculturalism, discovering current status of those, examining effects of multicultural education programs, and developing (pre-service) teacher training programs and a psychometric measure of perceptions and attitudes toward multuculturalism. Regarding indicating factors, experiential, dispositional, personality and competence factors were the meaningful predictors of college students’ perceptions and attitudes toward multuculturalism. Based on the results, discussions and implications for further research and practice will be provided.
Abstract
