조선시대 고지도에 나타나는 고대 도시 흔적에 관하여

Abstract

In this paper, I have analyzed the information and remained landscape related to Silla origin cities, so-called 9 state capitals and 5 sub-capitals, in the map created in Joseon era. The following three factors were taken as hypothesis for further study and generalization of theory. First, the name of each fortress used the symbolic name of earlier ancient history of the town. In reality, however, most of them were made from the end of Silla to the beginning of Goryeo, Second, the medieval fortress is much smaller than the ancient one. It contains almost only the administrative facilities. However, it is often the case that the location of the administrative facilities remains in the same place. That means its location was just downsizing. Most cities had a grid-like city plan. The street plan and the fortress are unrelated each other. So it seems to have been made in another era. Third, some of the nominations of land name in these maps could assume they are originated in Silla. So we can restore ancient administrative areas and grid-shape city plans using these land names. These results will be used for generalization of my theory for the location and inner structure pattern of Shilla’s cities in the near future.
