Abstract
This study analyzed the influence of the Korean War on the threat perception of South Korea, which was in turn reflected in its security policy. For this, this study first examined the concept of security focusing on the factor of threat, and suggested two directions of security policy: removing or releasing threat and/or reducing vulnerability. These two criteria for policy making used in analyzing the continuity and change in South Korean governments’ security policy.
