‘옛이야기 들려주기’에 대한 아동 반응 양상과 의미

글은 아동 대상의 설화 구연 현장에서 드러나는 청중의 반응 양상을 살피고 반응의 의미를 분석하여 옛이야기 들려주기 활동의 유의미성을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 설화 구연 현장에서 아동 청중은 성장 발달 시기에 따른 보편적 반응과 특수한 상황에 따른 개별적 반응 양상을 드러내었다. 이 글에서는 보편성과 특수성을 띠는 각 반응에 대한 아동의 심리적 문제와 의미를 분석하였고, 설화 구연을 통한 문제해결도 시도하였다. 그에 따라 옛이야기 들려주기 활동이 청중 아동에게 미치는 긍정적인 의미를 확인하였다. 옛이야기 들려주기 활동의 긍정적 의미 발현은 설화 구연 현장의 지속성에서 가능하다. 지속적인 옛이야기 들려주기 활동은 아동이 성장 과정에서 겪게 되는 수많은 문제에 대해 심리적 위안을 주고 스스로 극복해 나갈 수 있는 내면의 힘을 길러준다. 그리고 구연자가 도움이 간절히 필요한 청중 아동의 신호를 빠르게 인지하여 대처할 수 있게 한다. 옛이야기 들려주기 활동이 아동에게 미치는 유의미성을 확인한 만큼 향후 체계적인 설화 구연 프로그램 개발과 지속적인 설화 구연 현장 마련이 필요하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore a significant effect of storytelling old stories by analyzing the meaning of aspects of the audience’s responses in the scene of narrating folk tales for children. In the storytelling scene, the children as audience showed the universal response according to their period of growth and revealed individual reaction by their specific situation. This paper analyzed the children’s psychological problems and meanings from their reactions linked with the universality and specificity, and tried to solve the problems by narrating folktales. Consequently, it confirmed the positive effects of the storytelling activity on the children. The positive meaning of the folktale storytelling activity depends on the sustainability of the storytelling scene. Continuing storytelling activities give children a psychological comfort for the many problems they face during the growth process and nurture inner strength that they can overcome on their own. And it enables the storyteller to quickly recognize and respond to the signals of the audience children who need help. As we confirmed the positive effects of the folktale storytelling activities on the children, so we need to develop a systematic storytelling program development and to continuously prepare a folktale storytelling site.
