Abstract

This study contrasts the original Korean and Japanese comics. By targeting them, we will look at how Korean and Japanese expressions of sadness are used. To examine the expression of sadness in detail, we categorized it into five emotions: expression of sadness, expression of apology, expression of regret, expression of pain, and expression of concern. The five emotions are explained as follows. An expression of sadness is an expression of feelings that appear when you feel miserable, sad, or cry in your situation. An apology is an expression of emotion that appears when you apologize for causing trouble to others. An expression of regret is an expression of emotion that appears when you regret your actions or when the situation leads to pathetic bad results. An expression of pain is an expression of emotion that appears when you feel pain or are in a difficult situation. An expression of concern is an expression of emotion that appears when you feel uneasy, uncomfortable, or sorry for other people's situations. Based on the above five emotions, the purpose of this study is to examine the differences in emotional expression between Korean and Japanese. The significance of this study is that it will help us review emotional expressions that are closer to our daily lives and understand more diverse expressions.
