일본인 결혼이주자의 자녀양육을 둘러싼 사회문화적 갈등에 관한 질적 연구

본 연구는 일본인 결혼이주자의 자녀양육을 둘러싼 사회문화적 갈등에 관한 질적 연구로, 한일 양국의 정치적· 역사적 문제를 중심으로 살펴본 것이다. 연구 목적으로는 일본인 결혼이주자의 자녀양육을 둘러싼 사회문화적 갈등에는 구체적으로 어떠한 것들이 있으며, 그에 대한 대응과 의미는 무엇인지에 관하여 해석하는 것이다. 연구 방법은 에피소드 인터뷰 방식을 통하여7명의 일본인 결혼이주자가 경험한 사례를 수집하여, 근거이론의 방식으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 본고의 일본인 결혼이주자들이 경험한 사회문화적 갈등은 ‘집단으로부터의 배제’, ‘애국심 고취 관련 활동’, ‘계승 일본어 사용에 관한 갈등’, ‘반일정서가 반영된 대중매체에의 노출’, ‘자녀의 정체성 인식 관련 염려’에 관한 것들이 있었으며, 일본인 결혼이주자들은 사회문화적 갈등을접하면서 충격, 슬픔, 불쾌, 분노 등의 부정적 감정을 느끼고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 갈등에 대한 대응으로는 「의견표명」, 「대화하기」, 「이중처세 교육하기」, 「도움 요청하기」와 같은 『적극적인 대응』방법과,「참기」, 「수용하기」, 「선긋기」와 같은 『소극적인 대응』방법을 취하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 중 「의견표명」과같은 『적극적인 대응』방법은 자녀들의 일신상의 위협을 가할 수 있는 요인으로 인식되어 점차 『소극적인 대응』방법으로 전환되기도 하였다. 즉, 일본인 결혼이주자들은 자녀양육과 관련된 사회문화적 갈등 상황 속에서 소수민으로서의 목소리를 내기보다는 자녀들을 보호하고자 하는 부모로서의 심리가 더 크게 작용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study is a qualitative study on sociocultural conflicts over parenting by internationally married Japanese immigrants in Korea, focusing on the conflicts related to the political and historical problems between South Korea and Japan. The purpose of this study is to identify the sociocultural conflicts in detail and to analyze the responses of the internationally married Japanese immigrants as well as the meaning of these responses. For this study, cases experienced by seven Japanese married immigrants were collected through interviews, and the data were analyzed using a grounded theory approach. As a result, it was found that the sociocultural conflicts experienced by the Japanese married immigrants of this study included 'exclusion from groups', 'activities associated with patriotism', 'conflicts over the use of heritage Japanese language', 'exposure to mass media reflecting anti-Japanese sentiment', and 'concerns over identity perception'. In addition, the Japanese married immigrants felt negative emotions such as shock, sadness, displeasure, and anger when they encountered sociocultural conflicts. In response to these negative emotions, they were taking active measures, including 'expressing opinions', 'having a conversation', 'educating dual behavior', and 'requesting help', or passive measures, including 'tolerance', 'acceptance', and 'drawing the line'. Among these, the active measures such as 'expressing opinions' were perceived as factors that could threaten the safety of their children and gradually turned into passive measures. In other words, the Japanese married immigrants were more concerned with protecting their children than voicing their opinions as a minority while they were facing sociocultural conflicts related to parenting.
