교회의 본질과 말씀에 기초하여 다시 찾아가는 기독교교육의 단서

1950년 H기독교교육의 단서H를 썼을 때 랜돌프 밀러는 기독교 교리와 삶의 경험 그리고 기독교교육의 내용과 방법 간의 유기적인 관계를 이어줄 기독 교교육에 관한 신학을 당대 기독교교육자들의 실패를 만회하고 다음 세대가 하나님과 인격적 관계를 갖도록 도울 수 있는 기독교교육의 단서라고 생각 했다. 본 논문은 하퍼가 비판한 바와 같이 밀러의 신정통주의적인 신학, 화 이트헤드의 과정철학, 그리고 듀이의 교육철학적 전제를 수용할 수 없으나, 그가 말한 기독교교육을 위한 신학의 발견이 오늘날 기독교교육을 위해서도 중요한 단서가 될 수 있으리라 가정한다. 사회학, 심리학, 발달이론, 문화인 류학을 통해 기독교교육의 이론과 실제가 많은 발전을 이루었지만, 기독교 교육자들은 기독교교육의 이론과 실제를 정립함에 있어서 성경을 연구하고 해석하는 방법은 크게 발전시키지 못하였다. 본 논문은 교회의 본질에 미루 어 보아 신학함이 왜 중요한지에 관하여 교회의 본질과 말씀과의 관계를 살 펴보고, 교회의 본질적 사명에 적합한 기독교교육의 이론과 실천을 발전시 켜 가기 위해 모든 정경으로 돌아가는 곧, 성경전체를 기독교교육의 단서로 읽는 성경연구, 신학적이고 문화비평적인 공동체적 성경읽기, 그리고 개인 성도들의 일상에서의 신학함을 돕는 성경읽기를 제안한다.
Abstract
The Covid 19 situation not only led many to ask fundamental questions such as what the church is, what the essence of worship service is and what Christians are held accountable for the public. In the face of dramatic cultural and technological changes, people ask what education and Christian education per se should look like after Covid 19. This paper is to search for a clue that guides Christian educational practice which is fruitful and at the same time fitting to the fundamental question of what the church is. When Randolf C. Miller published “The Clue to Christian Education”in 1950, the clue was a kind of theology that mediates the extreme gap be- tween the liberal model of religious education and evangelical model of Christian education and that which unites what we learn and how we learn and between dogmas and life experiences. In short, the clue was a theology for Christian education. This article suggests that the assumptions that Miller presupposed cannot be taken without criticisms but this attempt to search for a clue to solve what Christian educators are failing and the insight that Christian educators needs theology that organically links purpose, theory and methods of Christian education together are worth noting. This paper suggests different ways of reading the Word including reading the whole canon as a clue to an educational model, communal reading, and reading as a doing everyday theology.
