문화적 역량을 향상시키기 위한 다문화교육에서의 액션러닝의 적용: 성찰저널에 나타난 학습자의 경험을 중심으로

본 연구는 예비 다문화실천가인 학생들의 문화적 역량을 향상시키기 위해 액션러닝 수업을 설계하여 적용하고 그 수업에 참여한 학습자의 문화적 역량과 관련된 경험을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 다문화학과 1학년 대상의 ‘한국사회의 다문화현상의 이해’ 과목을 액션러닝 교수방법으로 설계, 운영하였다. 수업을 바탕으로 학생들이 작성한 성찰저널 내용을 질적 내용분석 방법을 통해 문화적 역량의 정서적, 인지적, 행동적, 의지적 차원으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 액션러닝으로 진행된 수업을 통해 학습자들이 자신의 문화적 역량과 관련하여 변화가 있었다고 기술한 내용은 정서적 차원에서 7개, 인지적 차원에서 3개, 행동적 차원에서 6개, 의지적 차원에서 2개의 핵심주제로 드러났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 문화적 역량 개발을 위한 효과적인 교수학습 방법으로 액션러닝이 사용될 수 있음을 보여준다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 문화적 역량을 향상시키기 위한 교수학습방법으로 액션러닝을 활용할 때 어떻게 하면 효과적으로 운영할 수 있을지 교육적, 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to apply action learning to multicultural education designed to improve cultural competence and to explore the learners' experiences related to cultural competence. For this purpose, the researcher ran the class, “Understanding of the Multicultural Phenomenon of Korean Society” designed in action learning. Through the qualitative content analysis method, reflection papers written by learners were analyzed according to the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and willing dimension of cultural competence. As a result of the analysis, 7 emotional, 3 cognitive, 6 behavioral, and 2 willing key themes of cultural competence were revealed. The results of this study show that action learning can be used as an effective teaching and learning method to develop cultural competence. Based on the results of the research, this study suggests implement strategies and educational and practical implications of how to operate effectively action learning in multicultural education to improve cultural competence.
