<숙향전(淑香傳)>의 새 한문본, <마고외전(麻姑外傳)> 고찰

Abstract

In this paper, we examined the characteristics and meaning of “Mago-oejeon(麻姑外傳)”, housed in Kawai collection, Kyoto University, Japan, is considered as a new Chinese version of “Sukhyangjeon”. First of all, “Mago-oejeon” is significant in that it is a Korean translation that relatively faithfully preserves the original work, unlike the existing Chinese version, which is a condensed version of the original Korean version and translated into Chinese. Among the Korean version of "Sukhyangjeon", the close relationship with the representative texts that maintain the original form of the work is confirmed. However, it is difficult to say that there is a direct relationship with "Mago Oejeon", and it is highly likely that it is a translated copy based on the older Korean texts of the original series. In addition, although it is part of "Mago Oejeon", there are settings, similar to the Chinese version, not the Korean version, and it seems to be the result of partially reflecting the tastes of who reads the Chinese version.
