스포츠 그릿 개념 정립을 위한 세계 정상급 선수의 성취 요인 탐색: 선수 인터뷰 기사에 대한 빅데이터 분석과 내용분석

Abstract

This study, as a preceding study to establish the concept of grit in sports, explored the unique characteristics of sports grit through big data analysis and qualitative content analysis of interview articles of Korean players who achieved world-class achievements. Athlete S in soccer, Athlete K in figure skating, and Athlete P in swimming were selected as world-class athletes. For the interview articles, only the articles in which the phrases directly spoken by the players were quoted in the titles were collected through the Big Kinds of the Korea Press Foundation. The 730 articles finally selected through data refinement were analyzed using the readxl, KoNLP, and RmecabKo packages of the R 4.1.0 program. Among all words extracted through keyword analysis, terms related to sports grit were selected by three experts. In addition, a qualitative content analysis was conducted on articles searched for by ‘exclusive’ or ‘question-and-answer’ among all articles. According to the big data analysis, all three players showed high frequency of the words ‘thought’ and ‘mind’. In the case of player S, the words ‘fan’ and ‘gratitude’ were the most frequently used, in player K, ‘burden’ and ‘tension’, and in player P, ‘confidence’ and ‘preparation’. The interviews of the three players were analyzed by dividing them into six factors: ‘intrinsic motivation’, ‘perseverance of effort’, ‘pursuit of growth and development’, ‘positive thinking’, ‘recognition of the importance of psychological factors’, ‘altruism toward others and community’. In future research, it is necessary to establish the concept of sports grit and develop a scale based on the achievement factors of world-class players revealed in this study.
