생태담론의 연원(淵源)적 고찰

생태학이란 용어를 처음으로 사용한 헤켈(Ernst Heackel)은 찰스 다윈이 진화의 조건으로 표명한 생물과 생물들 혹은 생물과 환경간의 상호작용을 다루기 위한 학문이라고 생태학을 정의한 바 있다. 헤켈은 생태학이라는 용어를 처음부터 진화론의 논의들 속에서 형성시켰다 특히 생태학에서 다루는 주요한 연구대상은 주로 개체 이상의 생물체이며, 각각의 특성에 대한 연구뿐 아니라 상호작용에 대한 질문을 주된 연구과제”로 삼고 있다. 하지만 생태학은 현대 생물학의 주류를 차지하고 있는 분자생물학과는 질적인 차이를 보인다. 생태학은 직접적인 인과관계를 연구하는 물리학이나 화학과는 다르게 생활양식, 네트워크, 균형, 순환들을 연구한다. 즉 생태학의 목표는 생명체계 전체의 기능을 종합적으로 이해하는데 있다. 따라서 이러한 생태학의 관점을 토대로 필자는 생태담론의 등장, 생태담론의 근원적 관점: 자연개념의 변화, 생태담론의 철학적 논의, 그리고 21세기의 생태담론의 과제를 차례로 고찰하고자 한다.
Abstract
Ernst Heackel coins the term, ecology for the first time defining it as a discipline that studies correlative actions between an organism and organisms, or between organisms and the environment that Charles Darwin manifested as a condition of evolution. This means that Heackel intended to discuss ecology within the theory of evolution. In particular, the main subjects that ecology deals with are not only individual characteristics of organisms, but also their correlation with their environment. However, ecology has differences from molecular biology that is the main stream study of the modern biology because ecology studies modes of living, networks, balances, and circulation, which is different from physics or chemistry that deals with the direct causality of things. In other words, the goal of ecology is to understand the entire living systems comprehensively. Based on the ecological point of view, this study aims at examine how ecological discourse was originated, what the original point of view of the ecological discourse is, how the concept of nature has changed, how philosophical aspects of ecological discourses formed, and what tasks of the current ecological discourses are.
