현재 교육계에서 일고 있는 행복교육론의 난점과 그로 인한 함정을 살펴보기 위한 본 연구는 다음 논점을 다루고 있다. 첫째, 행복교육론이 그릇된 주장으로 함몰된 것은 행복의 의미가 어떻게 왜곡되어 있는가. 둘째, 교육의 왜곡된 형태인 행복교육을 야기하는 행복지상주의의 양태인 적당주의에 결과로 드러난 워라밸, 소확행(小確幸), 유토리(ゆとり) 교육의 문제점을 살펴본다. 셋째, 행복교육을 왜곡하는 행복지상주의를 형성하는 사상적 뿌리를 살펴본다. 넷째, 행복교육의 실행근거로서 헌법적 가치인 행복추구권의 법리적 문제와 함께 우리나라 학생인권조례에 담긴 행복교육의 문제를 분석해 보도록 한다. 행복교육이 지니는 함정을 빠지지 않기 위하여 행복 개념의 세심한 해석을 할 필요가 있음을 지적하면서 다섯 가지를 제시하였다. 그것은 ‘배부른 돼지’가 추구하는 ‘돼지 행복’에 안주함을 막을 수 있는 최소한 전제이기 때문이다.
Abstract
The paper has tried to examine the various defects that happiness education raises in the educational situations. First of all, these defects have arisen from the concept ‘happiness-seeking’, fallen into the same mistake as the one ‘pleasure-seeking’. Unlike the strictly ethical examination, the common sense meanings of happiness highly contribute to the wrong notions for us to make misjudgement. One of them is to regard happiness as an important educational aim. But the concept of happiness cannot be an aim of education whatever stated. This results not only in the detrimental mistakes such as misunderstanding of the right to happiness as the constitutional right but in falling into its own trap such as miscellanea obsessed, mediocrity, short-sighted prudence, and so on. And the paper has also tackled some senses of French Utopian socialism originated from Rousseau I assume and critically viewed some municipal ordinance of the pupils’ rights in the Republic of Korea. Against these the paper has to more closely re-examine the concept ‘happiness’ which particularly leads us to fall into happiness-seeking.
