이 글은 토론의 본질에 맞추어 토론 교육의 원리와 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 먼저 교육토론과 응용토론의 공통된 성격을 통해 모든 토론의 공통적인 성격을 다음과 같이 정리하였다. ․문제 해결을 위해 참여자들이 찬반으로 나뉘어 논쟁한다. ․일정한 규칙을 가진다. ․참여자들이 문제 해결에 합의하지 않는다. ․상대가 아니라 청중이 설득 대상이다. 이어 토론을 왜곡하는 현상들을 ‘토론 = 논증’, ‘토론 = 말싸움’, ‘토론식 수업 = 모둠 수업’으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 다음으로 토론의 본질에 기반으로 하여 토론 지도의 원리를 ‘1) 합리적인 소통 방식의 원리, 2) 조화를 통한 갈등 해결의 원리, 3) 합리적 사고 능력 신장의 원리’로 정리하였다. 마지막으로 토론 지도의 방향을 ‘1) 토론의 정신에 충실해야 한다, 2) 모든 학생들이 경험할 수 있어야 한다, 3) 교사 교육이 선행되어야 한다, 5) 교육 내용을 체계화하여 지도하여야 한다, 4) 교육 방법을 구조화 하여야 한다, 6) 디지털 매체를 통한 토론도 함께 지도해야 한다.’로 제시하였다.
Abstract
In this paper aimed to show teaching principles and directions of debate based on the nature of debate. At first, I explore characteristics of debate as below; The debate ․is a argumentation between positive participants and negative participants for problem solving. ․is proceeded by some rules. ․has not participants' agreement for problem solving. ․persuade not opposite participant but audience. I search some present circumstances which distortions debate; 'debate = logic', 'debate = quarrelling', and 'teaching through debate = group discussion'. I insist some teaching principles of debate; 1) principal of reasonable communication method, 2) principal of solution to the conflict by harmony, 3) principal of resonable development of thinking power. Finally, I argued the teaching directions of debate; The teacher should 1) follow the nature of debate, 2) make all students experience debate, 3) be thought about debate, at first, 4) teach debate systematically, 5) structuralize the teaching method, 6) teach together the debate through digital media.
