Abstract
In this article, I aim to the notion of “gender game” to precisely define the social phenomenon by which multiple facets of situations of vulnerability and structural instability are reduced to the issue of gender conflict. Through this study, I attempt to perform a meticulous and thorough analysis of the tactics and strategies of gender game and determine the protagonists of this game. I do this by, first, examining the mechanism by which young Korean men in their twenties and thirties form political tribalism based on male-centered online communities, where they abuse and distort the notion of fairness to justify their misogyny. Second, I dissect the contradiction of the anti-feminist logic of reducing sexist discrimination to the problem of the older generation based on the phenomenon of echo chamber and homophily. Third, I devise strategies to resist the politicization of hatred and the spread of the economic model of hatred facilitated by anti-feminist backlash.
