Abstract
In this paper, I will focus on examination of Murray Bookchin's social ecology. In particular, I want to focus on identifying the meaning of social ecology in moral education. Firstly,Iwillexamine anthropocentrism and deep ecology, two types of environmental ethics critically viewed by Bookchin. Secondly, we will examine Bookchin's criticism of the two positions and identify the theoretical structure of social ecology, which he proposes as an ethical ideal and vision, and communalism as hispractical prescription. Lastly, I will identify the meaning of Bookchin's social ecology in moral education today. In conclusion, I will argue that Bookchin's social ecology illuminates the relationship between social order and ecological crisis, providing students with opportunities for practical reflection on the new social life that humans should pursue today.
