초록

본 연구는 유아의 마음이론과 내용이해 및 이야기 꾸미기 능력의 관계를 유아 연령과 성에 따라 고찰하고자 하였다. 경북 H읍 유아 107명을 대상으로 개별면접 및 검사를 실시하고 그 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 유아의 마음이론과 내용이해 능력은 의미 있는 정적 예측관계를 보였으며, 유아의 연령별로는 5세 유아의 경우에 정적 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성별로는 여아의 마음이론과 내용이해 능력 간에 의의 있는 예측관계가 있었다. 셋째, 이야기 꾸미기의 하위 영역별로 보았을 때 마음이론과 이야기 구조 개념과 어휘수준의 관계에서 의미 있는 관계가 있었다. 넷째, 유아 연령별로는 3세의 마음이론과 이야기 구조 개념과, 4세는 어휘수준과 의미 있는 예측관계가 있었다. 다섯째, 유아 성별로는 남아의 이야기 구조 개념과 어휘수준에서 정적 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

This study investigates how young children’s theory of mind relates to their story comprehension ability, and their storytelling ability according to age and gender. Subjects were one hundred and seven 3, 4-, and 5-year-olds at two child care centers in Gyeongbuk Province. Data was obtained through three kinds of interviews with each child. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson’s correlation analysis and regression analysis using the computer program, SPSS/PC. The results of this study are as follows; First, there was a significant positive relationship between children’s theory of mind and story comprehension ability among the 5-year-olds and girls. Second, children’s theory of mind related significantly to story construct concept, and vocabulary level in storytelling ability. Third, there was a significant relationship between children’s theory of mind and story construct concept for case 3-year-olds, and between children’s theory of mind and vocabulary level for the 4-year-olds. Fifth, there was a significant relationship between children’s theory of mind and vocabulary level for boys. In sum, the results of this study reveal that young children’s theory of mind is related to story comprehension ability and storytelling ability according to age and gender.
