Abstract
Purpose: This study investigates vocational interest profiles among individuals with intellectual disabilities using data from the Pictorial Vocational Interest Test (PVIT) conducted by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled from 2021 to 2023. Method: Based on responses from 6,175 individuals, Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was conducted using MPlus to identify distinct patterns in activity (carrying, organizing, manipulating) and environmental (individual-group, indoor-outdoor) preferences. Results: Four latent profiles emerged: group-based manipulation-oriented, individual-indoor manipulation-oriented, outdoor carrying-oriented, and individual organizing-oriented types. Each group demonstrated unique patterns in activity and environment preferences. However, across all groups, service and food-related occupations elicited high interest, while laundry and cleaning received low interest. Conclusion: These findings suggest a need for broader occupational options tailored to interest diversity. Additionally the PVIT assessment framework should be refined to enhance the expression of diverse vocational interests among individuals with intellectual disabilities.
