비행이나 범죄 등 청소년의 일탈적 행동에 영향을 미치는 개인적·사회적 요인을 설명하기 위한 다양한 이론적·경험적 연구가 시도되고 있는 바, 레클레스의 견제이론은 초기 사회통제이론의 기초를 제공한 이론으로 평가받지만, 그 이론적 유용성에도 이에 대한 경험적 연구는 다른 이론에 비하여 매우 드문 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구는 한국형사·법무정책연구원의 ‘아동·청소년 범죄피해조사 2017’ 데이터를 2차 자료로써 수집하여 견제이론의 주요 요인이 우리 나라 청소년 범죄에 미치는 요인을 검증하여 레클레스(Reckless)의 이론을 재평가하여 그 유용성과 가치를 논의하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 환경적 강요로서 빈곤과 환경적 유인으로서 친구비행은 청소년 범죄에 부정적 영향을 미치는 요인이 되고, 특히 친구비행이 청소년 범죄에 미치는 영향에 있어 학교감독, 자기통제, 자아존중, 경찰활동, 부모감독, 부모애착, 이웃참여 등이 그 부정적 영향력을 절연하는 조절효과가 있다는 것을 검증하였다. 또한 연구결과를 토대로 견제이론은 이론적 한계를 갖음에도 불구하고 사회적·심리적 요인, 사회구조적·과정적 요인을 통합적으로 고려한 이론모형으로서 우리나라 청소년 범죄의 영향요인을 규명하는데 여전히 유용성을 갖는다고 평가하였다.
Abstract
Various theoretical and empirical studies have been attempted for a long time to explain personal and social factors that influence juvenile delinquency. Walter Reckless's ‘Containment Theory’ is one of the representative theories. His assumptions provided the basis for early social control theory. And this is evaluated to have particular usefulness in explaining juvenile crime or delinquency. However, less empirical testing of this has been attempted than other social control theories. The purpose of this study is to empirically test Reckless's theory through analyzing survey data on Juvenile Victim in Korea. To achieve the purpose of this study, I tried to verify the influence of environmental pressures and pulls, internal and external containment on juvenile crime in Korea. In particular, it was tested whether internal and external containment have a moderating effect in insulating on the factors which cause juvenile crime. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that poverty as an environmental pressure and a friend's delinquent tendency as an environmental pulls can have a negative effect on juvenile crime. In addition, it was verified that school supervision, self-control, self-respect, policing, parental supervision, bond with parents, and involvement of neighbors can have a moderating effect on the effect of friend delinquency on juvenile delinquency.
