젤소미나‘들’을 위한 환대와 회복의 시 -신영배의 시집 『젤소미나가 사는 집』을 중심으로-

Abstract

This paper examines the house and beach space that appear in Shin Young-bae's collection of poems, 『The House where Jelsomina lives』. Shin Young-bae has represented ‘fantasy’ and ‘other’, which have been the trend of poetry since the 2000s, and it has become more active in 『the house where Jelsomina lives』. The collection of poems was created under a plan to create a space for hospitality and recovery for Jelsomina, the main character of the film, by critically and aggressively rewriting Federico Fellini‘s film ‘Road’. Ultimately, The house and The beach cast around Jelsomina attempt to represent the violence and suffering of various weak people, hospitality and solidarity, and consolation and recovery. The house is a space of violence and pain, a space of hospitality and solidarity, and the beach is a space of violence and pain, and a space of consolation and recovery. Shin Young-bae‘s poem is a critical and aggressive parody of the movie ‘Road’, which is suggestive because it continues to intervene in the actual situation. For example, by placing historical and past facts and contemporary realities such as domestic violence, child abuse, pet abuse, sexual commercialization of female idols and girls, Japanese Military Sexual Slavery issues, and the Ukraine-Russia war in the reality of the poem, it creates a unique sense and contemporary sensitivity. This seems to express the poetic practice that the poet aims for and desires, and furthermore, the sense of responsibility as a citizen who lives up to the contemporary reality. Shin Young-bae’s collection of poems, 『The House Where Jelsomina Lives』, is thought to be more valuable in the current situation, where conflict is sharpening and confrontation shows no signs of being resolved. Through her poem, we can think about the time for coexistence that will come over the division.
