여중생의 학교스포츠클럽 넷볼 활동의 참여 경험과 당면 과제

초록

본 연구의 목적은 넷볼 클럽활동에 참여하고 있는 여중생들의 경험을 다양한 맥락을 고려하여 심층적으로 이해하고, 이 사례에서 해결하거나 개선해야 할 당면 과제를 진단하는데 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 J지역 S중학교의 학교스포츠클럽 넷볼 활동에 참여하고 있는 5명의 학생을 대상으로 관찰과 교사의 현장일지, 넷볼 경험록, 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여중생이 경험한 넷볼 스포츠클럽 활동의 경험으로는 주변의 반응(낯선시선, 놀림과 평가), 나의 반응(즐거움, 성취감), 어울리지 않는 우리(소외되는 나, 소속감 없는 우리), 팀으로 하나되는 우리(마음을 여는 우리, 협력하는 우리)의 범주로 분류되었다. 둘째, 넷볼 학교스포츠클럽 활동의 과제로는 평등한 기회 제공, 학생 위주의 자율적 운영, 클럽활동의 지속성과 연계성의 범주로 분류되었다. 여학생들은 스포츠클럽 활동 초기에 많은 어려움을 겪었지만 함께 하는 동료들이 있었고, 공동체로서의 팀을 인식하기 시작하면서 협력하고, 팀 응집력이 강화되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 여학생들은 스포츠클럽 활동을 접해볼 수 있는 기회가 남학생들에 비해 적었다. 여학생들의 신체활동이 일상적인 모습으로 받아들일 수 있는 학교문화의 형성과 여학생들이 자율적으로 클럽을 이끌어가고 자기 주도적인 활동과 실천이 될 수 있는 환경을 만들어 주어야 한다. 특히 여학생들의 클럽활동이 신체적 자기존중감을 향상시키고, 지속적인 스포츠클럽 활동에 참여할 수 있도록 체육수업 및 스포츠클럽 활동의 연계를 통한 긍정적인 경험을 확장시켜 나가야한다.

Abstract

This study is to explore the diverse experiences of female middle school students in a netball club under various contexts and analyze the challenges that need to be improved or resolved. To this end, five students in a netball club from S Middle School in J area were interviewed and shared their netball experiences for data analysis as well as teachers’ daily records. The findings are as following. First, netball sports club experiences from female middle school students were categorized into four sections; reaction to the environment(low recognition, teasing and evaluation), students’ reaction (pleasure and satisfaction), disharmony (alienated selves, team without cooperation), and team cooperation (being open-minded, cooperation). Second, the challenges of a school netball club were classified into equal opportunity, autonomous operation based on students, and sustainable club activity. Female students went through difficult times at first, but they started to cooperate as a team and developed team spirit together. Compared with male students, females had limited chances to attend sports activities. In this regard, schools should establish an environment that encourages physical activities to female students so that they can lead sports clubs voluntarily and develop their leadership. Especially, they should be provided positive experiences through gym class or sports clubs in order to enhance their self-esteem and participate in sports clubs consistently.
