이 논문의 목적은 음운론과 형태론의 접점에서 실현되는 형태 음운 현상의 제약을 밝히는 데 있다. 규칙 중심의 연구에서 형태론적 정보는 어떤 음운 현상이 적용되는 환경을 한정해 주는 기능만 할 뿐이지 음운 현상을 동기화시켜 주거나 하지는 못한다. 반면에 제약 중심의 이론에 근거하여 형태 음운 현상을 다룰 수 있는 방안에는 OT-LP, 위치 지정 충실성 제약의 설정, 중계 제약의 설정 등의 방법이 있다. 이 논문에서는 탈락 현상에서의 중계 제약 설정을 중심으로 그것의 한계와 장점을 살펴보고자 한다. 유표성 제약과 충실성 제약으로 분류되는 제약 유형론의 관점에서 중계 제약의 위치는 분명하지 않다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 중계 제약 ALIGN-L, ALIGN-R, LX≈PR 등의 설정을 통해 형태 음운 현상의 동인을 제시하고 공모 관계를 나타낼 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the constraints of phonological phenomena on the interface between Phonology and Morphology. In rule-based theory, morphological information shows morphological environments, but it cannot account for the motivation of interface phenomena. But according to the constraint-based theory, interface phenomena can be explained in different way such as OT-LP, positional faithfulness constraints, interface constraint etc. This thesis shows the explanation about the interface constraints of deletion. Interface constrains have a somewhat ambiguous status in markedness/faithfulness constraint typology. The interface constraints, ALIGN-L, ALIGN-R, and LX≈PR, provide OT's solution to the motivation of interface phenomena and the problem of conspiracy.
